News from Montréal

There I am ! I'm now in Montréal, enjoying my strike-free environment ! Weather's still good with a pleasant temperature, at the end of the "été des indiens".

After visiting a bunch of canadian administrations, I'm now enjoying some peaceful time with my wife, visiting some places and friends we've seen the last time we went there. People here are so much cooler than in Paris... No one rushing even at peak hours in the subway, people waiting in line to take the bus... I like that ! I'm told that compared to Québec city, Montreal life is stressing. I wonder how's life in Québec ! Point of view and stuff...

Relocating is not an easy thing to do, with so many things to think at once, like selling stuff, terminating contracts and stuff. Well, this is done now :) If you ever need to ship some personal effects from france, I can tell you that "Bagages du Monde" is doing great.

My new job at Averna is starting in a few days, I'll be telling you a bit more by then ! (as well as show some pictures !)

Canada !

Well, that was as not easy as it would have seemed, but it's done ! I'm moving to Canada !

I'll be in Montréal by the end of the year, still working with .NET technologies, but with the canadian spirit that I think I'll enjoy to learn and live with !

There's a lot of french people over there, like SharkOne (maybe still there at that time ?), or Sanx, and some other Epitech students I've graded a few years ago... This'll be great !

And no worries about Bluetooth Remote Control, I'll continue working on it :)

Spending some time in Montréal, QC, CA

It's been a while since I've taken any vacations, and I decided to spend some time in a country I don't know : Canada. Montreal, to be a bit more specific.

It's the first time I'm crossing the atlantic and after seven and a half hour, we land in a snow storm. A big one, for what I've been told. 30cm in a few hours, which is more than the road services could handle. But unlike in Paris, where three centimeters of snow are disrupting the traffic, here people just drive slower and safer. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that french drivers are bad, only paris' ones :)

Anyway, with all that snow, I couldn't resist taking some pictures. Here is what we're having by the time I'm writing this post, there an other bunch of snow flakes whitening the streets. I don't really want to be outside at this moment :) The wind's push the snow kinda fast.

Fortunately, snow's not always falling from the sky. This is a picture taken from the "La Fontaine" park, where you can experience some ice skating on a frozen lake. I'll definitely try that one !

Drivers have to be handy with the shovel... You can see most of them getting outside their parking lot using the accelerator to go over the huge amounts of snow being pushed by the side by snow plows.

There are a lot of bikes here and there. The fun part is seeing all of these half inside the snow...

I'm intrigued by these big things on top of electric pylons... Anyone knowing what this is ?

Anway, this seems to be quite a nice country. We'll be visiting more parts of the city in the next few days. I'll try to post some more picture here :)

Atlantic Shores of France

If you've never been to france, there are some beautiful places facing the atlantic ocean that are worth visiting, for their calm and their beautiful shores.

Cabourg is one of them, and you can see here some shots I've taken there :)

Some news

Here it is ! I've promised for too long now that I'd be adding a blog to this web site, and here it is ! I had some time last weekend, and I decided to update the site to add it.

It's pretty simple stuff in ASP.NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005, but it allows posts to have comments, to be grouped and shown in the rss by groups. Nothing new, really.

The point on creating this blog here is to be able to write in english and not bother french readers (my native language) on community blogs. Plus, I'll try to add some more frequent updates on Bluetooth Remote Control for which, wandering around the web, I've found some users having trouble with it that I did not know about.

I've also been busy lately getting on to certifications such as MCTS (via the MCSD Upgrade part 1), and MCT. Upgrade part 2 is coming soon too...

Anyway, if you want to get in touch with me directly and publicly, feel free to do so here.
